Well school has officially started since monday. So far so good. I have two nursing classes. One on monday and one on wednesday. Thursday and Friday are clincal days at the hospital. I am really nervous because I am on the medicine surgical floors. It will be pretty fast paced i am guessing.
I always wonder if I am in the right career because I get so nervous when I think of everthing I still don't know. However once I am actually working I love it. From baby deliveries to injections I love being the one there. Only two more years to go. I know it will go by fast because it feels like I just started this program and I am almost 2 years into it.
Well I hope everybody's school and work semesters are going well. Good luck and love to everyone I haven't seen in so long.

Hey there!
I totally know how your feeling with the nervousness thing. In PS1 one of my profs said there are 4 stages to becoming a competent teacher (and this could also apply to nursing i think)
1. you begin by being confidently incompetent
You go in with a gusto, so excited, confident but you really don't know what you're doing.
2. unconfidently incompetent
REality sets in and you realize how much you don't know - its a little scary
3. Unconfidently competent
You gain the skills and knowledge necessary to do the job but your confidence has yet to grow.
4. Last stage: Confidently Competent.
You know all you need to know and you trust yourself with that knowledge.

Its funny, but its true. This isn't to say there's no room for growth - cause there always is - but I could actually feel when I had gone on to the next step...

Chryslyn, were you at Only Women's today (Jan. 13)? I was there for my leg wax and I was taking off my shoes and there was this pair that I swear was yours. I looked all over for you but didn't see you...I mean, I guess someone else could have those shoes too, but I was just so sure.

thanks, Chryslyn - and I'm university-educated. The prof must have used a different word because I can't imagine a professor saying "unconfident".
All that "smart' advice and the word doesn't even exist! Thanks for not making fun of me. I think I'll make it a word....

Chryslyn keep doing what you are doing, one day it will give you some good money and you will look back and laugh and say, hey I have money and I didn't before... :)
