On the Fly

Well folks I made. Where some of you are wondering and the answer is Bloomington Indiana. It started friday at 5pm. Sheldon and I picked up some dinner and starbucks in lethbridge and hit the road for Calgary. A quick bathroom/mini egg break in Nanton and we arrived in good time. Checked in at the Sandman, updated ourselves on the Olympics and went to see Pink Panther at Chinook. I think I was tired but the movie was hillarious. In fact Steve Martin at his best, I am still chuckling...
Then early Saturday morning we boarded the van to the airport. First thing I nail my head on the van roof. This seems the way I begin every holiday for at Christmas I think I gave myself a concussion by doing a back flip on my couch and landed on the hand rest incredibly hard. In any case it helps me get a lot of rest. In Calgary the lines were impossibly long and slow. Didn't matter however and we made out flight to Edmonton. Met a nice man moving to Calgary from Grand Prairie and educated him on windmills and Waterton :)
Then in Edomonton the plane was delayed and we were stuck in this room with one tv for like 5 gates so it was kinda boring. This flight to Chicago finally landed and we landed 15 minutes before the plane left to Indianapolis. So we ran and ran down corridors, up stairs, down stairs. Now I like running but perhaps I need to increase my training with a 10lb backpack because I almost died and had a asthma attack! But we made it to the wrong gate and then got directions to the right gate. In the end our plane was delayed an hour and we got Mc Donald's and I tried to cheer up! At this point a man having the calmest heart attack ever entered and asked the lady at the counter for help. So she called the paramedics and yelled for nurses or doctors in the area for help. As a nursing student I kinda watched the situation and considered my knowledge of what I was capable of doing. I came up with the only skill at this point was taking his pulse and that didn't really seem necessary. In the end a doctor showed up and the paramedics came too. Drama, I don't want no drama.
So anyway we made it to Indianapolis with a new plane buddy from switzerland. I was still upset about our loss to Switzerland in hockey but we looked past our differences.
Its so good to be in bloomington! Happy REading break and Family Day!!!

da da da dum

Yes it wednesday night. Its probably the most awful night of the week by far. After work I go to the hospital and research my patients who I am more than likely afraid of. Then I go back to work to clean very unsure of the information I just spent an hour gathering. Then I clean as fast as I can so I can go home. Now I made an omlet. And yes it was even identifiable as an omlet for the first time. My secret is using a soft flipper instead of a stainless steel one. Try it.
Now I sit and wait to go and look up in my text books all the issues my patients have and should have some idea now how to care for them. I think I do know but it never feels adequate and the fear that tomorrow I might kill someone is very real. I absolutley hate it! I need advice. I can't live this way people? How do you cope with something you wish with every fiber of your being you don't have to do?

Valentino

Happy Valentine's Day!! Like I don't even have a reason to be super pumped but I am today. I got some donuts for everyone at work and made them my valentine's. Tonight I'll go out for dinner with some friends and probably end with a hockey game watching.
For all you love birds have a great romantic day!

the Office

Not only do I love watching the Office because of its brilliant and often offensive content I work at an office in the industrial park. And often i get asked what i do here and well I am about to give you a typical yet random example. I showed up today at 12 pm and lunch was on its way. They (my boss and the receptionist) picked the Cheesecake Cafe becuase its the only place they know what I like without having to call and ask. I had the typical cobb salad with a surprise lime vinagrette dressing which deviates from my normal ranch. Then I go and clean up glass and finger print dust from an office that got broken into over the weekend. This took a good while finding glass in all sorts of spots and making sure fabric chairs were free of shards to protects the asses of those who will use the chairs. After I answered a couple phone calls about the weather, soya prices, and problems with their bills. Then some stock got delivered from head office in Winnipeg, and I carried it upstairs and orgainzed it. A really good workout because they can't make stairs much steeper than the ones we got. I made some chai tea from a packet we got from Country 95.5. We were the office of the day and apparently got donuts (nobody saved me any :( )!
I also went to the candy warehouse down the street and for our usual deal picked a box ful of choclate bars for everyone that is addicted to them. Now I have a chunk of time to well write this and surf the web. I am looking forward to going to walmart and buying valentine cinnamon hearts and air freshner.
Well really exciting but a day at the office for me.

Ode to Rio

So I am on a bit of a break really. I was pretty sick yesterday and now i am in recovery. So this has given me some, okay maybe a lot of time to spend at my parent's house. During this time I have hung out with my dog Rio who really is the most precious thing ever. Right now he is curled up on my lap as I write this. Sometimes boarderline needy but so cute just the same.
It was actually incrediable how much I was able to sleep yesterday and Rio far out did me. I think it is some sort of mechanism for Rio to avoid the facts. The facts being...
1. Mom and Dad are gone and are not coming back for a long time
2. Nobody finds me cuter than Dad
3. No one has time to snuggle me as much as mom does
4. Is it just me or does anyone think I don't get as much table scraps as I deserve.

See he is so cute!! Rio, I love you

History of Chryzmo

It came to mind a couple weeks ago that I never explained the meaning of my blog. Not that there always has to be mmeaning but someitimes there is.
Often people wonder what it is i do at work and i don't think i have ever given a precise answer because i am often doing the same thing but the work is never the same. So most importantly I am responsible to answer the phone. As well the recceptionist is equally as responsible to answer the phone so it usually ends up as the amazing race with pushing, yelling, and swearing to just pick it up, Then when I win I get to say "Thank you for calling this is Chryslyn speaking." Well on this particular afternoon the gentlemen on the other said "Who's speaking?"
Me- "Chryslyn!"
man- "Who?"
me- "Chrys...lyn"
man- " oh, Chryzmo?"
At this point i gave up because I couldn't stop laughing, and transferred the phone to someone else. Wow is all I can say!
