Post Ski, Post Run, Post O.D on motrin, Post Nap

I feel great. In the last 24 hours my body has covered alot of distance. First skiing in Fernie yesterday. Beautiful. 9cm of snow overnight and mild temperature. The slopes were awesome and the company was fun too, Sheldon and Josh. They spent a little more time waiting for me and less time actually skiing but ask Sheldon, my snow plow carving is super stellar.
For the evening I was planning on winding down with a game of risk and going to bed early. But can an emperor ever go to bed early? Taking over the world is hard work and tough strategies. Haha. The final showdown was between Tavis and myself. It was a valiant effort but in the end the lady won.
So this morning my dad and I joined up with the 1/2 marathoners to run 6 miles. Dad already ran 12 miles yesterday with the full marathoners and continued to push me today. What a machine! It was a gorgeous morning, no wind and bright sunshine. I love it.
My muscles hate me. So I take motrin (a couple) then my body loves me as I drift away for a afternoon nap. Now I am up and I chatted with my friend/landlord Melissa. I think I made sense...
Do not forget the Oscars tonight folks. Go Little Miss Sunshine! And the Queen! And the Departed! Still don't know what to think of Babel and I didn't see Letters from Iwo Jima. But good luck anyway.

102nd post

I did it. I have posted 101 previous posts. So to everyone that doubted i could do it.... okay i finally noticed that is tells you how many posts you have and i got pumped that there was over 100.
Tavis and I just watched Babel. Interesting, very interesting and representative of different languages and cultures. I am not ready to critique it just yet. It really has my mind boggled for some reason.
Tomorrow Tim Hortens will be saying hello at about 6:45am. And then I will be saying hello to Fernie whenever we get there. Woo I am so excited. I haven't down hilled skiied yet this season so I think I will enjoy every second there. I usually start on the deer run. I love the deer run. But I am going to the quad. I just see myself strapping my skiis on and jumping on the quad. I can't visualize myself though after getting off the quad so I will report back later.
Reading week is over now. It was good to have the time off and sleep in and yada yada. However today I realized my life craves structure. Unless it is summer where there are endless hours to be outside I get this way. Give me a job with some purpose or that pays me and I am a happy girl.
Finally in conclusion to my 102nd blog.... thank you thank you. I would like to say I am so sorry Alberta that you are out of the finals for curling. For those who are cheering for Sasketchewan, all the best ;). May the best province win... or team Canada.

I LOVE Country Music. Even if you have to play it backwards for a happy ending.

Enter at your Own RISK

I will take this oppertunity to welcome my dad to cyberspace bloggs. Hopefully you don't find out anything you shouldn't have ;) haha.

I don't really have a lot to report on. Check out Tavis's rad blogg to find out what we did on Sunday. Its hard to compete with his pictures so I don't mind just directing you there.

Okay so very disturbing story. Apparently there is a new trend amound white middle class teenagers. So lets go smoke some pot, drink alot of beer and then start beating up homeless people. Yes this is not isolated, teenagers do this. Like I feel maybe some people are a little bored? Actually the story they described makes me all queasy. Three boys about 15years old were under some influences and decided lets just start hitting, kicking, throwing rocks and bricks, and doing other things to this homeless man that are just vile. Finally they end up killing him and leave him to be found by whomever.

Its so cold and heartless. The three youth went to court and have spent now three years in prison. The one teenager said while he felt numb during the whole thing it reminded him of playing video games.

I don't know. Can we really be 15 years old and correlate games with acting out actual violence and death? I think about the life of that homeless man living in a campground. That was the end of his life. Beaten to death and there was no one there to help or protect him.

Its time for me to stop reading CNN news for awhile. That was a tough story.

what!?!

Your Birthdate: September 20

You are a virtual roller coaster of emotions, and most people enjoy the ride.
Your mood tends to set the tone of the room, and when you're happy, this is a good thing.
When you get in a dark mood, watch out - it's very hard to get you out of it.
It's sometimes hard for you to cheer up, and your gloom can be contagious.

Your strength: Your warm heart

Your weakness: Trouble controlling your emotions

Your power color: Black

Your power symbol: Musical note

Your power month: February

So I found this quiz on Nic's blog. How the hell is February my power month??? I mean Valentine's rocked but thats about all. And I guess reading week is awesome! Okay fine. But my power symbol is a musical note? And my power color is black??
I think this actually is a very acurate description of my personalit but don't you think it could fit you too? And is trouble controlling my emotions a weakness. Too much control. I shouldn't ahve to control natural emotions, since I probably have them for a reason.

Ka-BOOM!!!!

SO work has got a little interesting since I've been gone. Wish I had some pictures to show ya'll. So in the back of the warehouse we have a very large black tank that is filled with oil. Out of nowhere wedenesday around the afternoon coffee break a sorta loud noise occurs from somehere. Very vague. According to my mother who works here when I don't, there was a fight between the workers upstairs (I've worked here for six years and there has never been a fight). So meanwhile all the guys upstairs come running downstairs asking what was that noise? Mom still thinks there is a fight so she is running after them to see what is going on (she is very brave). Finally realization sets in, the oil tanks top blew off. Shattering window, taking out part of the roof, and other companies complained of things falling off their walls. In fact the fire station said they could feel the explosion and were here almost immiedelty.
So now I am at work wondering what random thing might blow up. See it is always exciting at East-Man Feeds.

Our Children

Wow. There are a couple things that happen in this world that are hard to understand and then there are things which I find impossible to understand. It literally makes me feel sick. Last year I watched the movie "the Invisible Children". It is a documentary that follows children who are running from the militia during the night. At nightfall millions of children leave there homes in rural areas and go and find parkades or alleys to sleep in for the night. They are scared of being kidnapped by various rebel groups. Some of the kids had been kidnapped and escaped. Before they left they saw lots of thier friends die or had been asked to go and kill thier famalies.
Apparently children make good soldiers for rebel groups because they can be manipulated and brainwashed. For the rebels children are expendable and there are more to be found and broken down.
Finally the UN is forcing action and I really hope and pray that things begin to change. Last year there were at least 19 countries actively using children as soldiers. The UN wants to place sanctions by jailing rebel leaders and/or freezing bank accounts. 30 years ago this issue was ignored. Why? Where have we been? There are so many vulnerable children. We take action against famalies who abuse children. In fact often I wish more could be done. In this case it is only now that we are taking action. Better now than never however we have neglected children for over 30 years, probably a lot longer.
What else is the world ignoring? I think with globalization perhaps we are becoming more aware. Its harder to silence what we don't want to see. Who would want to watch a child become a soldier, sex-slave, or abandoned in extreme poverty?
There are some horrible things that go in the world. There are also people who speak out, that want to do what good, advocate for those who are quiet or don't even know how life can be different. I appreciate these people. I really really appreciate the work they do.

Anna Nicole

Well I found this picture on cnn.com today. It somewhat intrigues me. I don't know why. I usually don't follow what Anna Nicole is doing her death is really bizzare.
The E channel called her life a tragedy, well they said she was a tragedy. I think that is what has stayed with me. In her death the popular media is calling her life a tragedy. I think thats so sad.

Lethbridge and Beyond

Well who know there was a whole new city one and a half hours away from Lethbridge. Its called Medicine Hat. And its actually a beautiful and historical little city. This is the place where I met some of Tavis's family. Sorry I don't have any pictoral evidence but I will insist that I did go and hopefully the Newman family will support my alibi. Anyway I think the funniest cutest child in the world lives there ( sorry I haven't met Caleb and Chloe yet and I am pretty sure they are awesome too :) ). Tate just won my heart over immidietly, like he has a rollercoaster in the living room! He loves to ride down on it in his little car thing and he giggles so loud. Its really cute if you haven't caught on to what I am saying. And of course Tavis parents were wonderful and so were Wendy and Murray. I mean I don't think I haven't eaten so well in 9 hours than I did there. And we went walking by the coulee's and later explored the historical downtown by the river. So even in the minus whatever it was, Medicine Hat was a good time.
