spring in my step...

Hey all, its been officially spring for 6 days! Its been really great becuase the weather seems to have gotten the memo. Its been pretty mild with even some rainy downpours :) better than spring snow. Yesterday got out the ole rollerblades and took them for a spin around henderson. So excited because soon I'll be living right beside henderson and I can just rollerblade everywhere. Well the west side has a lot to offer in the way of paths so don't get me wrong. I definitley am impressed at the recreational development on this side. However nothing beats racing around henderson at midnight with a pair of reliable rollerblades and a slurpee!

days go by...

well keith urban said it best thats the days are just flyin. Like its almost the end of march. i just mailed off my brother's birthday present from two weeks ago (sorry steph). There are only 10 more shifts of clinical (not going to lie i am going to be so pumped when school is on break) my brain needs to catch up. I only have one more assignment due and one final exam. I am moving to the south side in a week!!!
Well craziness is happening all around. Even when it dosen't feel things are changing all of a sudden it hits you! Look out :)

Double Double

There is something about the double double. Pretty sweet nice and cheap and I love it. However i am trying to cut back is some shape way or form by settling with the large regular. I guess the amount of caffiene is not changing its just the extra sugar. Anyway i am on coffee number two already today so that is not a good sign. Maybe going to bed earlier than 3am would be a logical plan but not always logically possible.
Well I am very sad the moonlight run is over. It was great this year. My dad was psyched and at 6:30pm we were ready to get to the starting line. We didn't start until 7:45 so we definitley strategized and hung around. WE started right near the starting line and when the cannon blasted we were off and I mean like sprinting for our lives. I unfortunatley looked behind me and saw 700 people running towards me at the same time as some girl trips and is trampled by the crowd the definitley motivated me to keep moving!!!
Anyway there was lots of snow and lots of people! It was great. I beat my time from last year by two minutes so I am excited.
Check out up coming races on runner's soul on my links.
Well another week is upon me here. I skipped class this morning to write a paper on evidence-based nursing practice. Not as exciting as my last paper but interesting nonetheless. Oh yeah I won a donut this morning from my coffee. Gotta check this one out...

Moonlight Run!!!

Well its really late Friday night or really early saturday morning. I promised an update on the clinical so here it is before I get caught up with everything else in my life. I am on a medicine/cardiac floor. The nurses on this floor are amazing. Of course they are busy with all thier patients but they totally make time to help me out or answer my questions. I still felt anxious and nervous before going on the floor but once I got started they made me feel quite at ease. For the sake of patient confidentiality I will not tell any stories however my patients kept me laughing all day and it was such a pleasure to be a nurse this week. Its the first time this semester i felt like this and its such an answer to prayer.
This weekend I have much homework to look forward too. On a more exciting note is the moonlight run saturday evening. I am so excited for this and my dad is too. This is my dad's first time running and my second time. Woohoo!
Not only do i get to run but I am also getting a key to my new home. More on that later.... :)

up & up

So its the most beautiful day today. Clear and the sun is shining nice and bright. Not only is the sun shining it rose nice and early and won't set at 4:30. I think I love these longer days.
Monday has hit again and the week is off and running. I handed in my first of two papers for the semester. I actually enjoyed every minute I spent on this paper. It was about patient safety. Nurses and most health care providers accidently cause medical errors throughout their lifetime. Actually it is estimated that about 98,000 people in the US die each year directly from a medical error which may be wrong medications or dosages amoung other things. A resolution seems somewhat impossible for we are all human and make mistakes however it is important to be able to admit those mistakes and anonomously report them. This way the nurse needs to take responsibity but is able to report factors surrounding the error and can be reviewed and system can be revised to prevent mistakes from happening in the future. That was my view anyway so it was interesting.
I am working still at east man feeds and think hutterites are just great customers. Often funny and relaxed. As long as I know hog prices and long range forcasts I am in!!
WEll have a great week and I will update you on my new clinical placement later on!!

OkoKOk

Ok I have gotten a very clear message. Take time to post already! So here I am. Its the second week of March already holy smokers to quote myself. Its flying by and I am so happy about that!
Well lets just give Indiana some justice here. I went to Bloomington Indiana to visit some of my favorite people. Stephen and Amber. However some bad habits were developed on returning home. First lets focus on the best highlights
#1 Finally seeing Stephen & Amber since christmas in the somewhat dumpy indianapolis airport (hint: time to upgrade with the rest of North America)
#2 The constant supply of Starbucks and discovering the tall coffee in a grande cup with steamed 1/2 and 1/2 (this will later become a severe mistake on my part)
#3 Seeing Tristan Prettyman in concert. She's hot she rocked (but she was sick :( )
#4 Touring the Indiana campus and taking hip hop w/ Amber (shake that thing...) and learning how to play squash (including getting smoked in the face . haha funny now not then)
#4 St. Louis. Yes I could move there but picturing myself accidently moving to the ghetto and learning how to kick anyone's ass.
#5 Bird watching- I will always treasure the pilliated woodpecker. keen eye!
So I loved it because it was beautiful, refreshing, and good to just hang out with the siblings. Love em' !
Now I have returned and finally finished the seventh week of my rotation of 4A at the hospital. I wanted to quit so bad but knew an hour later if I walked off that floor I would regret it. So I did it and am still wondering if it was worth it. I have seven more weeks on a differnt floor which starts tomorrow. :)
I am super excited however for the moonlight run on the 18th. My dad and I are running together. Lethbridge has some great events through runnerssoul. Check it out if you are intereseted in a great evening of running, snacks, and visiting with people who like be active. Good times.
Hang in there everyone if thats what you have to do. Otherwise enjoy the days as they are getting longer. hooray
